Cobham Appoints Alison Wood As Non-Executive Director
Cobham plc announces the appointment of Alison Wood as a non-executive director with effect from 1 July 2011.
Alison was formerly Group Strategic Development Director for BAE Systems plc responsible for corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions and strategic business development across the UK and US. She is currently Global Director Corporate Development & Strategy for National Grid plc.
Alison had a 17 year a career with BAE Systems until 2008 and supported a number of the company's, biggest corporate development moves, including the acquisition of United Defense Industries and Armor Holdings in the US. Over the last three years as Global Director Corporate Development & Strategy for National Grid, she has developed the company's strategy and supported the restructuring of operations in the US.
John Devaney, the Chairman of Cobham, commented:

Cobham confirms that there are no further disclosures to be made under rule 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.

Alison Wood - Biography
Alison qualified with a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering, Economics and Management from St. Hilda's College, Oxford in 1985 and a Master in Business Administration from the Harvard School of Business in 1989.
On leaving university, Alison joined the international firm of Booz Allen and Hamilton as a junior management consultant.
In May 1991, Alison joined British Aerospace working in various posts across the Military Aircraft and defence businesses, with a focus on business development. In January 1997 Alison became BAe's Director of Corporate Strategy.
Following the BAe/Marconi merger at the end of 1999, Alison was appointed Managing Director - Future Systems for BAE SYSTEMS
In December 2002, Alison became the founding Managing Director for NITEworks, responsible for establishing a new partnership entity between MoD and BAE SYSTEMS (and nine other defence companies) to deliver MoD's emerging requirements for Network Enabled Capability.
Alison was appointed to the Executive Committee of BAE SYSTEMS in January 2005 and held the position of Group Strategic Development Director.
Alison has held two Non Exec Directorships - BTG plc (Sept 2004 - July 2008) and THUS plc (Nov 2007 - Sept 2008).
Alison joined National Grid plc in June 2008 as Global Director Business Development & Strategy.
