Stagecoach Group PLC08 May 2006 Stagecoach Group plc 8 May 2006 Appointment of non-executive director Stagecoach Group plc ("the Company") is pleased to announce that Sir GeorgeMathewson will join the Board of the Company as a Non-Executive Director witheffect from 8 June 2006. Sir George was Chairman of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc ("Royal Bank")until his retirement on 28 April 2006. Sir George is currently an advisor to theRoyal Bank and also a director of the Scottish Investment Trust plc. No other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in relation to SirGeorge's appointment as a director of the Company. Sir George has a wide background in finance,technology and management. He joined The Royal Bank of Scotland Group in 1987 asDirector of Strategic Planning and Development and in 1990 was appointed DeputyGroup Chief Executive. In January 1992, he was appointed Group Chief Executiveand, following the acquisition of NatWest, Sir George was appointed ExecutiveDeputy Chairman in March 2000. In April 2001, Sir George was appointed Chairmanof The Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Sir George is a director of the Scottish Investment Trust plc. In November 2001,he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Institute of InternationalFinance and in June 2005, he became President of the International MonetaryConference. Sir George joined the Advisory Committee of Bridgepoint CapitalLimited in January 2004 and in November 2004, he was appointed a member of theFinancial Reporting Council. From 1981 to 1987, Sir George was Chief Executiveof the Scottish Development Agency being widely recognised for his achievementsin economic development. From 1972 to 1981, he was with ICFC (now 3i), theleading UK development capital organisation. Prior to 1972, and after a periodin academic life, he spent five years in the United States as a professionalengineer with Bell Aerospace during which time he graduated MBA.
