HMV Group PLC11 January 2007 11 January 2007 HMV Group plc today announces that Steve Knott is standing down from the Group'sBoard and as Managing Director of HMV UK and Ireland by mutual consent,effective from the end of January 2007. Simon Fox, Chief Executive Officer, will additionally become Managing Director,HMV UK and Ireland, pending the appointment of a permanent successor. Carl Symon, Chairman, said: "On behalf of the Board of HMV Group plc, I would like to thank Steve for hissignificant contribution over the 16 years he has been associated with theGroup, and wish him every success in the future. While we search for a permanentsuccessor the Group's Chief Executive, Simon Fox, will assume the role ofManaging Director of HMV UK & Ireland." About Steve Knott Steve Knott, 54, was appointed to the Group Board on 1 August 2005. He wasappointed Managing Director of HMV UK & Ireland in May 2003, after two years asManaging Director of Waterstone's. He originally joined HMV UK in 1990 asOperations Director and became Managing Director of HMV Germany in 1996. He is aformer Managing Director of World Duty Free (Europe) Limited, a subsidiary ofBAA plc. Before joining HMV, he had ten years experience in retail managementwith the Burton Group, after spending five years with BHS Limited, which hejoined as a graduate trainee in 1976. He is currently Chairman of theEntertainment Retailers Association (formerly BARD) and of The Official ChartsCompany.
