Whitbread PLC06 December 2005 6th December 2005 WHITBREAD APPOINTS NEW NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Whitbread PLC announces that it has appointed Phil Clarke as a Non ExecutiveDirector. He will join the Whitbread Board on 1st January 2006 and will be amember of its Remuneration Committee. Phil Clarke (45) is a director of Tesco PLC with responsibility for itsoperations in Central Europe and Asia. He is also responsible for IT across theTesco Group. In his 25 years of experience at Tesco he has held a number ofroles most recently as director of Distribution, Supply Chain and Logistics. Anthony Habgood, Whitbread's Chairman said "I am delighted that Phil will bejoining our Board. He has had a great range of experience at Tesco which willbe highly relevant to Whitbread."
