Manchester Building Society announces that John Bee has stepped down as Society Chairman prior to his intended retirement from the Board after the Society's next Annual General Meeting scheduled to take place in April 2010. John Bee first joined the Board in December 1999 and has served as Chairman since April 2006. He is succeeded as Chairman by Michael Prior, former North West Regional Chairman of Chartered Accountants HLB Kidsons, who joined the Board in January 2005.
Prior says, "I am honoured to become Chairman of the Manchester Building Society. The Manchester has a long tradition of benefitting its members, and our mutual approach ensures that we are in the best possible position to continue to do that, even in the present economic climate."
The Society also announces that John Allen is to join the Board from 1 November 2009 as a Non-Executive Director. John brings substantial experience from a lifelong career in banking and is well known to the professional and commercial community in Manchester most recently for his role as Regional Director for Larger Business Corporates at Barclays plc.
