ALEXANDER GERSH JOINS BETFAIR GROUP AS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Betfair Group plc (LSE:BET) today announces the appointment of Alexander Gersh as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director on 3 December 2012. For the past seven years, Alex was Chief Financial Officer of NDS Group, a leading supplier of technology solutions for digital pay-TV that, until February 2009, was listed on NASDAQ. Prior to this, he was Chief Financial Officer of Flag Telecom, a global network services provider.

Alex succeeds Stephen Morana, who, as previously announced, indicated he would step down as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director upon appointment of a successor. Stephen steps down from the Board on the same date, but has agreed to make himself available over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.

In addition to the information above, Alex was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at NextiraOne LLC and has also held senior international financial roles with BT.

Alex is a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Black Earth Farming, a quoted company listed on the Nasdaq OMX (Stockholm).

A Certified Public Accountant, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree (Cum Laude) in Business Administration from Baruch College (City University of New York). He is 48 years old.
