25 February 2014 UBM plc appoints Tim Cobbold as Chief Executive Officer UBM plc today announces that Tim Cobbold has been appointed to the role ofChief Executive Officer; he will take up his position and join the Board as anexecutive director on 6 May 2014. Tim's appointment follows the announcement inSeptember 2013 that David Levin intended to step down as UBM's CEO. Tim joins UBM from De La Rue plc, where he has been Chief Executive since 2011.Before joining De La Rue, Tim was Chief Executive of Chloride Group plc, theinternational provider of secure power solutions. Prior to this he was atSmiths Group plc where he held a wide variety of senior roles, including anumber of Managing Director positions. Tim is also a Non-Executive Director ofDrax plc. As previously announced, on David Levin's departure Dame Helen Alexander,Chairman of UBM plc, will become Executive Chairman until Tim takes up hisposition, whereupon Dame Helen will revert to her non-executive role. Tim Cobbold biographical information * After a graduating from Imperial College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse. * He began his career in industry in 1989 with UK engineering group TI Group (subsequently acquired by Smiths Group plc) where he worked in the automotive, oil & gas, capital goods, marine and medical industries. * He gained extensive international experience through senior leadership roles with responsibility across Asia, Europe (working and living in Germany for three years) and particularly the US where he led the integration of a $1bn acquisition. * Tim left Smiths Group for the international provider of secure power systems Chloride Group plc where he became Chief Executive in 2008. Chloride operates in Europe, Asia, US, Middle East and Australia. * Under Tim's leadership Chloride grew quickly despite the recession of 2009, with Tim overseeing the establishment of a new joint venture business in China and a key strategic acquisition in India. In 2010 Chloride was acquired by Emerson Electric. After a short period overseeing the integration process, Tim joined De La Rue Plc as Chief Executive in January 2011. * At De La Rue - an international business employing 4,000 people, doing business in more than 150 countries covering the Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the USA - he successfully led the restoration of the Group's reputation and delivered a significant turnaround in financial performance and prospects. * He played a leading role in addressing ethical concerns in the industry by creating and launching the industry's independent "Ethics Initiative". De La Rue became one of the first three business accredited under this initiative in February 2014. * Tim lives in Chichester and London, and is married with three adult children. 3.
