Friends Provident plc Robin Phipps appointed independent director
Friends Provident plc announces the appointment of Robin Phipps as an independent director, subject to regulatory approval by the Financial Services Authority.
Robin Phipps is currently a non-executive director of G.E.Money UK and Partnership Assurance as well as being an adviser to the financial services practice of Ernst & Young.
Between 1982 and 2007 Robin Phipps held various senior roles at Legal & General. From 1996 to 2007 he was an executive director of Legal & General group plc. When he retired in 2007 he was Group Director UK Operations.
Commenting on the appointment, Sir Adrian Montague, chairman of Friends Provident said:
"I am delighted to welcome Robin to the Board. He brings many years of financial services experience to Friends Provident. He has a proven track record in driving strategic change in challenging market conditions. His experience will bring added strength to the Board of Friends Provident and we very much look forward to working with him."

Robin Phipps biography:
Between 1982 and 2007 Robin Phipps held senior roles at Legal & General. Between 2001 and 2007 he was Group Director, UK Operations. From 1991 to 2001 he was Group Director, Retail Business and between 1996 and 1997 he was Group Director, Sales & Marketing. From 1973 to 1982 he held various roles in IT with South Eastern Gas Board.
