ICAP appoints Diane Schueneman and Robert Standing as non executive directors

London, 14 July 2010 - ICAP plc (IAP.L), the world's premier interdealer broker, has appointed Robert Standing and Diane Schueneman as non executive directors at ICAP's board meeting today, following the company's Annual General Meeting.

Michael Spencer, Group Chief Executive, commented, "Both Diane and Rob bring significant knowledge and experience of the markets in which ICAP operates. I am sure that we will benefit from both their strong financial and operational background and trading experience in our markets." Diane Schueneman recently worked for McKinsey & Company as an independent consultant to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner. She had previously built an extensive career at Merrill Lynch and until 2008 was Senior Vice President, Head, Global Infrastructure Solutions and a Member of the Executive Operating Committee where she was accountable for all technology, infrastructure, client services, and operations worldwide for Capital Markets, Private Wealth and Asset Management.

 

Diane worked for Merrill Lynch for over 30 years, moving from a fixed income sales role to a wide range of positions in sales, business management, operations, client services, and technology. As a result of her global responsibilities, she lived and worked in London for nine years.

Diane Schueneman currently serves on two not-for-profit boards; Year Up and National Cooperative Cancer Network Foundation and as the chair of the finance committee of each Board. The Year Up organisation provides education and training to urban adults in technology, operations, and finance with an 85% success rate of placing them in jobs with significantly higher wage potential. In addition, she serves on the board of Capco Consulting and the advisory board of UBA (United Bank for Africa) Group New York.

 

Robert Standing is currently a principal of London Diversified Fund Management which was founded within the JPMorgan group in 1995 and spun out by Robert and David Gorton in 2002 under the newly formed LDFM group. Robert is also the CIO of LDFL fund.

 

Prior to LDFM, Robert spent his career with JPMorgan and its heritage banks, eventually running the Fixed Income and FX business in Europe with over 300 people across Sales and Trading.

 

Robert graduated in engineering from Cambridge University in 1982 and after spending two years developing new products for the capital markets division he joined the fixed income trading desk in 1985 where he traded a range of OTC derivatives and bonds. In 1989 he was appointed head of trading for Chemical Bank and oversaw the growth of the unit organically and via the merger with Manufacturers Hanover in 1990 and Chase in 1996. In 1998 he became head of Chase's FX and FI division in Europe and continued in the role throughout the merger with JPMorgan.

 

Robert Standing was one of the founders of the Hedge Fund Standards Board.

 

There are no other matters to disclose in accordance with paragraph 9.6.13R of the Financial Services Authority's Listing Rules.

 

William Nabarro retired today as a non executive director of ICAP after 11 years in the role.
