Schroders PLC21 February 2006 Schroders plc Board Appointment 21 February 2006 Schroders plc announces that Luc Bertrand has been appointed to the Board as anon-executive Director, with effect from 1 March 2006. Mr Bertrand will also bea member of the Audit and Nominations Committees. Mr Bertrand, 55, is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Belgiancompany Ackermans & van Haaren N.V. He joined the Ackermans & van Haaren groupin 1985 as a Director and became Administrative and Finance Manager in 1987. Hewas appointed Managing Director in 1990 and became Chairman of the ExecutiveCommittee in 1996. Michael Miles, Chairman, said "We identified the need to strengthen our Boardthrough the appointment of a Director with broad experience of business inContinental Europe, a region which is of great importance to Schroders. Biographical details for Mr Bertrand are set out below. Biographical Details - Luc Bertrand Luc Bertrand was born in 1951 and is a Belgian national. He started his careeras a corporate financier with Bankers Trust in 1974 in their New York office.Between 1976 and 1980 he held various overseas posts, including positions inLondon and Amsterdam. He became a vice president in 1980. Mr Bertrand joined Ackermans & van Haaren N.V. in 1985, holding a number ofpositions before becoming Chairman of the Executive Committee in 1996. He is adirector of various subsidiary companies within the Ackermans & van Haarengroup. He is an independent director of ING Belgium, Fortis Private Equity and AgridecN.V.
