AMEC appoints two new Board Directors
AMEC plc, the international engineering and project management company, today announces the appointment of Simon Thompson and Neil Bruce to the board, with immediate effect.
Simon Thompson joins as a non-executive director. He is currently a non-executive director of Newmont Mining Corporation, Sandvik AB and UC Rusal and brings many years of operational experience in the international mining industry. Much of his earlier career was at Anglo American plc, where he was latterly an Executive Director and Chairman of the Tarmac Group, the Base Metals Division and the Exploration Division. He previously held positions with S. G. Warburg and N M Rothschild.
Neil Bruce is now appointed as an Executive Director. He has 30 years' experience in oil and gas and natural resources and remains Chief Operating Officer of AMEC's Natural Resources division, a role he has held since April 2006. He was previously Managing Director of AMEC Oil and Gas. Prior to joining AMEC in 1997, Neil was at Atlantic Richfield, where he held various positions.

2) Neil Bruce
Neil is a member of the International Oil and Gas Business Advisory Board and is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, where he recently won an award for developing young people. He is also a trustee of the charity Engineers Against Poverty. A Chartered Engineer, Neil has a Masters Degree from Newcastle University.
