WS Atkins plc ("Atkins" or the "Group"), the design, engineering and project management consultancy, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gretchen Watkins as a non-executive director and a member of the Nomination Committee with effect from 1 August 2015.
Ms Watkins has significant experience gained over her 25 year career as an energy industry executive having held senior positions with Amoco Corporation, BP plc, Marathon Oil Corporation and most recently Maersk Oil, where she is currently chief operating officer.
During her career she has led joint ventures, held senior level relationships with government ministers and national oil companies and negotiated contracts with countries and companies from Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. She has held executive positions on three continents in exploration and production, midstream operations and supply and trading.
Ms Watkins has previously held two board positions with EG LNG and Phu My Power Plant, both joint ventures that included national and international oil companies. Her non-profit leadership experience includes membership of the board of directors for two educational charities, the Communities in Schools Houston and the Offshore Energy Center. She was also a member of Independent Petroleum Association of America board of directors.
Allan Cook CBE, Atkins' chairman, said: "Gretchen's broad international experience and deep knowledge of the energy industry will be a tangible benefit to Atkins as we continue to develop and grow our business internationally. I am delighted to welcome Gretchen to our board."
There are no other disclosures required in respect of Ms Watkins pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13.
