BRIT Insurance Holdings PLC09 November 2005 PRESS RELEASE Released 7am 9 November 2005 BRIT INSURANCE HOLDINGS PLC APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Brit Insurance Holdings PLC ("Brit"), the UK general insurance group, todayannounces the appointment of Mr Joseph Patrick MacHale as a non-executivedirector with effect from 9 November 2005. Joe MacHale held a number of senior executive positions with J P Morgan between1979 and 2001 and was most recently chief executive of J P Morgan Europe, MiddleEast and Africa Region. He is currently a non-executive director and member ofthe audit committee of Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC, non-executive directorand chairman of the audit committee of Morgan Crucible plc, non-executivedirector and chairman of Prytania Group and a trustee of MacMillan CancerRelief.
