Shaftesbury PLC, a Real Estate Investment Trust investing in London's West End, has today announced the appointment of Hilary Riva OBE as a non-executive Director.
Hilary Riva spent her career in the fashion industry starting at the Burton Group (latterly Arcadia Group) and has been Managing Director of numerous high street brands including Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins and Evans. In 2001, she jointly led the management buyout of several Arcadia brands (including Principles and Warehouse), establishing a new company, Rubicon Retail Limited. Rubicon was sold to Shoe Studio Group in 2005.
From December 2005 until April 2009, Hilary took on the role of Chief Executive Officer of the British Fashion Council ("BFC"). The BFC owns and organises London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards. She is widely credited with reviving the fortunes of the organisation and its events, promoting the interests of British fashion designers and London at home and internationally. She was awarded an OBE in 2009 for services to the fashion industry. Hilary continues in a non-executive capacity as Chair of the BFC's Development Committee.
There are no further details that are required to be disclosed in respect of her appointment under LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
The appointment will take effect from the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting later today.
