Changes to the Board

London - the Board of Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation PLC ('ENRC' or 'the Group') announces that, following his recent appointment as Chairman of UK Financial Investments Limited ('UKFI'), Sir David Cooksey will step down as Chairman and as a Director of the Group, effective from 20 August 2009, to allow him to concentrate on the significant demands of his new role. 

The Board is delighted that Dr Johannes Sittardcurrently Chief Executive Officer of the Grouphas accepted the role of Non-Executive Chairman, retaining for the Group the full benefit of his extensive operating experience and his proven leadership.

Sir Richard Sykes is appointed to be the Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of the Group and will retain his position as the Senior Independent Director. Sir Richard's extensive experience in the metals and mining sector is an invaluable asset in the strategic development of the Group.

In addition, the Board has promoted Felix Vulis to be Chief Executive Officer and has appointed him as a Director of the Group. Mr Vulis has been Chief Executive Officer ENRC Kazakhstan since 2006 and a member of the ENRC Executive Committee since 2001.

All three appointments are effective from 20 August 2009.

Dr Johannes Sittard

Dr Sittard habeen Chief Executive Officer of ENRC since 2006He has extensive experience in the natural resource and steel industries, having worked in the business for over 25 years. 

Dr Sittard commenced his career as an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Iron and Steel at the Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany (1971-1978). He has a Bachelor's Degree in Iron and Steelmaking from the Technical University, Berlin and a Master's Degree in Iron and Steelmaking and a Doctorate in Metallurgy from the Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

Prior to joining the group in 2001, Dr Sittard was the President and Chief Operating Officer of ISPAT International NV (now known as Mittal Steel Company NV).

Sir Richard Sykes 

Sir Richard Sykes is currently the Chair of NHS London, the Strategic Health Authority accountable for the performance of the National Health Service in the capital.

Prior to that he was the Rector of Imperial College, London and the Senior Independent Director of Rio Tinto plc. He has over 30 years of experience within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, serving as Chief Executive and then as Chairman of GlaxoWellcome from 1995 to 2000 and then as Chairman of GlaxoSmithKline until 2002. 

Sir Richard is the Senior Independent Director and Chairman of Remuneration Committee of ENRC.

Mr Felix Vulis

Mr Vulis has been Chief Executive Officer, ENRC Kazakhstan since December 2006. Prior to joining the Group in 2001, Mr Vulis was President of UNICHEM K, LLC where he supervised the development of new technologies and processes for fertiliser production. Between 1990 and 1995, he was the President and CEO of AGC Group, Inc.

Mr Vulis is Deputy Chairman of the Governing Board and Co-Chairman of the Operating Working Group of the Foreign Investors Council of Kazakhstan. Mr Vulis has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Novocherkassk Technical Institute and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. 

Mr Vulis is Chairman and Director of Shubarkol Komir JSC.
