SHAFTESBURY ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO THE BOARD
Shaftesbury PLC, the specialist West End property investment group, has today announced the appointment of Oliver Marriott as a non-executive Director.
Oliver Marriott was a financial journalist and his roles included property editor on the Investors Chronicle and financial editor of The Times. He left journalism in 1969 and became a founder director of Sterling Guarantee Trust which merged in 1985 with P&O. From then until 1991 he was a non executive director of P&O and from 1986 until 1991 he was Chairman of the Trustees of P&O Pension Fund.
From 1979 to 1985 he was chairman and managing director of Churchbury Estates, a quoted property company which was acquired by Greycoat. In 1985 he formed a private property investment company, Ilex Limited, of which he was chairman and managing director, backed by ten leading institutions. Ilex was sold to Great Portland Estates.
There are no further details that are required to be disclosed in respect of his appointment under LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
The Board also announces the resignation of Patience Wheatcroft as a non-executive Director with effect from 30 September 2009. Patience was appointed as editor-in-chief of the Wall Street Journal Europe in July 2009, and with regret, has now advised the Board that she must resign as a non-executive Director of the Company.
The Board also announces that with effect from 1 October 2009, Gordon McQueen will become the Senior Independent Director of the Company in addition to his role as Chairman of the Audit Committee. John Emly will remain on the Board and as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee but will stand down as Senior Independent Director.
