Canaccord Capital Inc. announces new directors LONDON, UK, Aug. 8 /CNW/ - Canaccord Capital Inc. (CCI: TSX & AIM) ("CCI"or the "Company") held its annual general meeting on August 5, 2005, at whichits existing directors were re-elected to the Board: Peter Brown, O.B.C.,LL.D., Michael Greenwood, William Eeuwes, Michael Harris, Brian Harwood,Terrence Lyons, James Pattison, O.C., O.B.C., and John Zaozirny, Q.C. TheBoard of Directors is also pleased to announce the election of three newdirectors at this meeting: Arpad A. Busson, Timothy J.D. Hoare and Paul D.Reynolds. This brings the total number of directors to eleven. Further details on the new directors are given below. Arpad A. Busson Mr. Busson was educated in France and at the Le Rosey Institute inSwitzerland. Mr. Busson began his career raising assets for individual hedgefunds, including the Tudor Group and Moore Capital, two of the largest andbest-known hedge fund management groups in the world. In 1991, Mr. Bussonfounded the EIM Group, which is today one of the world's largest providers ofcustomized fund-of-hedge-fund solutions for institutional investors, with over150 employees worldwide. EIM has allocated over US$ 10 billion to hedge funds,of which US$ 7 billion is in discretionary mandates. Mr. Busson is Chairman ofthe EIM Group and is also Chairman of EIM's Global Investment Committee, whichsets EIM's investment policy and due-diligence standards, and approves hedgefunds for investment. He is a founding member of the Alternative InvestmentManagement Association (AIMA), which is the largest hedge fund association inthe world. Mr. Busson is also the founding trustee of ARK (Absolute Return forKids) and continues as chairman of its board of directors. ARK has been highlysuccessful in raising charitable contributions from the hedge fund industry tofurther its aim of transforming the lives of children who are victims ofabuse, disability, illness and poverty. Hoare Mr. Hoare is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CanaccordCapital (Europe) Limited. Mr. Hoare began his career in the securitiesindustry when he joined Laing & Cruikshank, a London-based investment dealer,in 1975 as a mining analyst. He became a partner of that firm in 1979. In 1988the firm was acquired by Credit Lyonnais and Mr. Hoare became a director ofCredit Lyonnais Laing International in 1990. In 1993 Mr. Hoare established T.Hoare & Co. Limited, an investment dealer based in London, England whichfocused on research and institutional accounts and specialized in financingcompanies in the international resource sector. The Company acquired aminority interest in T. Hoare & Co. Limited in 1993 and through a series ofcorporate reorganizations it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Companyin 1999 and now operates as Canaccord Capital (Europe) Limited. Throughout hiscareer Mr. Hoare has been an active participant in the mining finance sector.He has arranged financings for resource companies around the world includingintermediate producers and companies with properties at the exploration anddevelopment stage as well as international oil and gas companies. Reynolds Mr. Reynolds is the President and Chief Operating Officer of CanaccordCapital (Europe) Limited; in that capacity, he is responsible for managingCanaccord's office in London, Englandand is very active in Canaccord'sEuropean investment banking operations. As of April 1, 2005, Mr. Reynolds wasappointed Vice Chair, Head of Global Capital Markets, for Canaccord CapitalCorporation; in that capacity, he leads Canaccord's Global Capital Marketsdivision. Mr. Reynolds has over 20 years of experience in the securitiesindustry beginning as a trader on the floor of the Vancouver Stock Exchange.He joined Canaccord in 1985. He worked as an investment advisor with Canaccordin Vancouverand specialized in financing emerging and developing companies inthe technology and biotechnology sectors and largely focused on institutionalclients principally in Europe. In 1999, he moved to London, England to becomethe President of Canaccord Capital (Europe) Limited. He has been integral tothe development of Canaccord's business in Europe and a primary contributor tothe successful progress that Canaccord has made in positioning Canaccord as anactive participant in the European equity markets specializing in small tomedium sized emerging companies.
