Rexam appoints new non executive director

Rexam, the global consumer packaging company, announces that John Langston, Finance Director of Smiths Group plc, is to join the Rexam Board as a non executive director on 30 October, 2008. He will take on the role of chairman of the Audit Committee after the AGM in May 2009 when Mike Buzzacott, its current chairman, stands down after what will be nine years on the Rexam Board.

Peter Ellwood, the Chairman of Rexam, said: "We are delighted to welcome John to the Board and I am certain that, given his commercial and financial experience, he will make an excellent contribution, both as a non executive director and as chairman of the Audit Committee."

John Langston is not a director of any other public company other than Smiths Group plc and there are no further details to be disclosed under paragraph 9.6.13 (2) to (6) of the Listing Rules.
