Lewis(John) PLC18 December 2006 John Lewis Partnership - Management Changes The John Lewis Partnership announces that the Partnership's Chairman, Sir StuartHampson will retire in March 2007. He will be succeeded as Chairman by CharlieMayfield, who will be 40 this month, currently the Managing Director of JohnLewis department stores. Alastair McKay, aged 60, Deputy Chairman and Director of CorporateResponsibility, will retire in February 2007. Charlie Mayfield will continue torun the John Lewis department store business while a successor is appointed andwill also assume the role of Deputy Chairman in February until he becomesChairman on 27 March 2007. Charlie Mayfield joined the Partnership in March 2000 and has served on thePartnership Board for five years, three of them as Development Directorresponsible for the Partnership business strategy and two as Managing Director,John Lewis Department Stores. Charlie began his career as an officer in the Scots Guards. He joined SmithKlineBeecham as Marketing Manager for the Lucozade account in 1992, moving to thepost of Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co in 1996, working with consumer andretail organisations with particular reference to e-commerce.
