Direct Line Group Appoints Clare Thompson as a Non-Executive Director

Direct Line Insurance Group plc ("Direct Line Group" or "the Company") today announces that Clare Thompson has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Direct Line Group, effective 3 September 2012.

Clare is presently a Non-Executive on the Partnership Board of Miller Insurance Services LLP. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and became a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 1988. Whilst Clare was at PwC, she held several senior and high profile roles, particularly within the insurance sector.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Biggs, Chairman, said:

"I am delighted to welcome Clare to the Board of Directors of the Company. Clare brings with her extensive experience and knowledge gained from roles across the professional services industry, which will undoubtedly be of great benefit to the Board."
