ICAP appoints John Sievwright as a non executive director

London, 15 July 2009 - ICAP plc (IAP.L), the world's premier interdealer broker, has appointed John Sievwright as an independent non-executive director today

Michael Spencer, Group Chief Executivecommented, "John brings significant knowledge and experience of the markets in which ICAP operatesI am sure that we will benefit from his strong financial and operational background in our industry."

John Sievwright, 54, was most recently Chief Operating Officer, International, for Merrill Lynch, based in New YorkTokyo and London. Prior to that he held a number of senior positions at Merrill Lynch, including Chief Operating Officer, Global Markets and Investment Banking; Head of Global Futures and Options and Chief Administrative Officer for the Debt Markets and Global Equity Derivatives Divisions. He began his career at Ernst and Yong, Bank of Tokyo International and Bankers Trust Company.

John Sievwright is currently a non executive director of FirstGroup plc. He also plays an active role in non profit organisations and sits on the North American board of the University College Dublin, Aberdeen University Development Trust and is fund raising co-chair of Robert Gordon's College.
