TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC
Directorate change
TalkTalk today announces that Amy Stirling has decided to step down from the Board and her role as Chief Financial Officer after 13 years with the business, first with Carphone Warehouse and latterly with TalkTalk. Amy will stand down from the Board on 31 May 2013 and leave the company at the end of this September 2013.
Stephen Makin will be appointed to the Board as Amy's replacement and become CFO on 31 May 2013. He will join the business on 15 April 2013, to ensure an orderly handover. Stephen is a Chartered Management Accountant with over 15 years of experience in senior finance roles, most recently at Shop Direct where he was CFO. Prior to that, he was CEO and CFO of London listed Umbro PLC, until its acquisition by Nike in 2008. Stephen spent the early part of his career at Asda, where he held a series of senior finance positions*.
Dido Harding, Chief Executive Officer, commented:
"We owe much to Amy for her pivotal role in creating and building TalkTalk. She has been at the very heart of the business since the beginning, and without her tremendous contribution TalkTalk would quite literally have never existed, let alone become the thriving business it is today. After 13 successful years with the business, I fully understand her decision to move on and wish her every success for the future.
With Steve we gain a great new colleague with huge consumer experience who will be a strong cultural fit for TalkTalk. I look forward to working with him as he supports me and the Board in shaping our future growth."
Sir Charles Dunstone, Chairman, commented:
"On behalf of the whole Board I would like to thank Amy for her tremendous contribution to making TalkTalk the success it is today. Having worked alongside her for over 13 years, she has been always been supremely professional, resilient and loyal. It has been an honour and pleasure to count her as a colleague. We wish her well in whatever she decides to do next."
