Friends Provident announces today the planned retirement from the Board of Friends Provident plc of Ben Gunn, Chief Executive Officer of Friends Provident Life & Pensions, effective from 31 December 2008.
Until his retirement, Ben Gunn will support and advise Trevor Matthews, the new CEO of Friends Provident plc, to help ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities and, with effect from 1 September 2008, be Chairman of Friends Provident Life & Pensions.
Sir Adrian Montague, Executive Chairman of Friends Provident plc, said:
"The Company owes a debt of gratitude to Ben for the important contribution he has made to the development of Friends Provident over many years. The strong positions we now hold in pensions, protection and international operations are due in no small part to Ben's influential leadership and vision. These are the very market positions that now form the cornerstone of our new strategy, enabling the Company to look forward to many more successful years in the future."
