APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHAIRMAN
LONDON - 27 January 2021 - HomeServe plc ("HomeServe"), the international home repairs and improvements business, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tommy Breen as an independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman Designate, to succeed Barry Gibson. Barry has served as Chairman of HomeServe since 2010 and, with the support of HomeServe's shareholders, was appointed for one final term in April 2019.
Tommy Breen is an experienced non-executive director and until 2017 was Chief Executive of DCC plc, the FTSE 100 listed international sales, marketing and support services group, where he spent a highly successful 30 year career. A chartered accountant by training, Tommy brings to HomeServe an extensive track record of delivering sustainable growth in a diverse, international business, both organically and by acquisition. He is currently Senior Independent Director of Essentra, the global packaging and distribution company. Tommy joins the Board of HomeServe with immediate effect, and will become Chairman on 19 May 2021, after HomeServe publishes its results for the financial year to 31 March 2021.
Tommy Breen, Chairman Designate of HomeServe, said: "I am very much looking forward to joining HomeServe and working with Richard, his executive team and my new non-executive colleagues to deliver the company's exciting growth potential."
Richard Harpin, Founder and Chief Executive of HomeServe, said: "I look forward to working with Tommy as we continue our quest to make home repairs and improvements easy, for homeowners and trades. Barry has chaired HomeServe with dedication and skill, and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for his outstanding contribution. In Tommy, we have found a strong successor."
Barry Gibson, current Chairman of HomeServe, said: "It really has been a privilege to be part of HomeServe's development since it de-merged from South Staffs Water in 2004. I have always championed the importance of great customer service, great products and people so it is really satisfying to leave HomeServe in the hands of a talented executive team, supported by an engaged and experienced Board. My best wishes to Tommy, Richard and everyone at HomeServe for continued success."
