London: 27 April 2009 - Trans-Siberian Gold plc ("TSG" or "the Company") (TSG.L) is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Emmitt Ryan as a non-executive director of the Company.
Mr Ryan, aged 41, is Chairman of UFG Asset Management, a 51.6% shareholder in TSG. A US citizen and Harvard graduate, Mr Ryan began his professional career as a financial analyst with CS First Boston before becoming an Associate and Principal Banker with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, where he was a member of the bank's Russia and Poland country divisions.
Together with the late Dr Boris Fedorov, Mr Ryan spent more than a decade founding and developing United Financial Group (UFG), one of Russia's leading investment companies. Following UFG's sale of its investment banking business to Deutsche Bank in 2006, Mr Ryan served as Chief Country Officer and CEO of Deutsche Bank Group in Russia until September 2008, when he was nominated non-executive Chairman of Deutsche Bank in Russia.
Mr Ryan also serves on the boards of PGI Group Plc, the Delta Russia Fund, JSC Sovcomflot, Unifin Bank, Ozon.ru, and the Capital International Inc. Advisory Board. He is a member of the Board of the US-Russia Business Council, the New Eurasia Foundation, the Moscow School of Political Studies, the Russian American Christian University and the Ruddy Memorial Youth Foundation.
