Portman Building Society01 February 2006 PORTMAN BUILDING SOCIETYPRESS RELEASEFor Immediate Release1 February 2006 BOARD CHANGES AT PORTMAN BUILDING SOCIETY Following its Board meeting on Tuesday 31st January 2006, Portman announces thatJohn Roques will retire as Chairman after the AGM in April 2006. He will besucceeded by the current Vice-Chairman Bill Tudor John. John Roques, a chartered accountant and former senior partner of Deloitte &Touche, joined the Portman Board in 1995 and was appointed Chairman in 1999.During his time as Chairman, the Society has enjoyed exceptional levels ofgrowth with assets increasing from £5.6bn to £17.8bn. Bill Tudor John is currently a managing director of Lehman Brothers, having beena partner at Allen and Overy from 1972 until 2001, latterly as senior partner.Bill joined the Portman Board in 2001 and was appointed Vice-Chairman in 2004. -ENDS- Editor's notes: Portman Building Society is the third largest UK building society and 13thlargest UK mortgage lender.
