Thomas Cook Group appoints a new Non Executive Director
Thomas Cook Group plc announces that Peter Marks, Group Chief Executive, The Co-operative Group, will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director, upon completion of the UK retail joint venture with The Co-operative Group.
Peter Marks has spent his working life within the Co-operative Movement, having joined in 1967. He has managed a tremendous variety of businesses and functions within the Co-operative Movement, with previous senior appointments including Chief Executive, United Co-operatives between 2002 and 2007 and Chief Executive, Yorkshire Co-operatives from 2000 to 2002.
The Co-operative Group has an annual turnover of more than £14bn, employs 120,000 people, operates 5,300 food, financial services, pharmacy, travel, funeral and motor outlets and is the UK's largest mutual business.
Commenting on the appointment, Thomas Cook Group Chairman, Michael Beckett said, "This appointment further strengthens and complements the composition of our Board. Peter brings current and wide-ranging experience to our deliberations as we deliver against our strategy and create value for our shareholders."
