BRIT Insurance Holdings PLC28 November 2006 For immediate release 28 November 2006 BRIT INSURANCE HOLDINGS PLC APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR AND COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN Brit Insurance Holdings PLC ("Brit Insurance" or "the Group"), the UK-domiciledinternational general insurer and reinsurer, today announces the appointment ofCees Schrauwers as Senior Independent Director with effect from 1 December 2006. Cees Schrauwers succeeds Don McCrickard who is retiring at the end of this year,as disclosed in the annual report and accounts for the year ended 31 December2005. Additionally, Michael Smith and Joe MacHale will take over as Chairmen of theNomination and Remuneration Committees respectively on the same date. PeterHazell continues to chair the Audit Committee. Joe MacHale was appointed to the Board in November 2005.
