Coventry Building Society 13 April 2006 13 April 2006 Coventry announces retirement of Chief Executive Coventry Building Society today announces that on 30 June, Martin Ritchley willbe retiring as Chief Executive and Director of the Society. Martin joined the Society as Chief Accountant in 1970. He became a Director in1985 and was appointed Chief Executive in 1990. He will also retire as a memberof the Council of the Building Societies Association having been elected in 1995and having served as its Chairman from 2001 to 2002. Martin has played an active role in Coventry's local community, including beingChairman of CVOne Limited, the partnership company established to assume themanagement of Coventry city centre and to promote tourism throughout theCoventry and Warwickshire area. Commenting, David Harding, Chairman of the Society said: "Martin has beencentral to the success of the Society for many years. Under his expertguidance, Coventry Building Society has grown to be the fifth largest buildingsociety with an enviable record of growth, innovation and efficiency. At theheart of this success has been his unswerving commitment to the benefits thatbuilding society status bring to our members. On behalf of the Board and ourmembers, I would like to thank him for his many achievements and wish him a longand happy retirement." Martin Ritchley, Chief Executive, added: "It has been a great honour to haveserved Coventry Building Society and its members for so long. "I have been privileged to lead a fantastic team at Coventry Building Societywho have delivered great success in the changing world of financial services. Iknow that I am leaving a strong and confident business which has a great futurebased upon its philosophy of putting members first." Martin will be succeeded by David Stewart, currently Operations Director at theSociety, who will become Chief Executive on 1 July 2006. David, a Chartered Accountant, joined Coventry Building Society as FinanceDirector in 2002 and was appointed Operations Director in 2003.
