Board Appointment
Thomas Cook Group plc ("Thomas Cook") today announces that Sam Weihagen has been appointed to the Board as Deputy to the Group CEO, Manny Fontenla-Novoa, with immediate effect. In taking this role, he has deferred his retirement and will continue as CEO Northern Europe.
Mr. Weihagen, a Swedish national, has 34 years' experience in the travel industry and has been in the role of CEO Northern Europe since 2001. He was formerly an Executive Director of MyTravel Group plc for three years prior to the merger in 2007. He is a member of the Group Executive Board and Chairman of the Tour Operating Federation in Sweden.

Manny Fontenla-Novoa, CEO, Thomas Cook Group plc added: "I am delighted that Sam has agreed to defer his retirement to take on the role as Deputy to the CEO for the Group, in addition to his current responsibilities as CEO, Northern Europe. In this broader role he will develop and implement his succession plan for Northern Europe, use his vast experience and commercial acumen to assist the other Group Segment CEO's with their margin improvement and business development, whilst lending his support to the overall running of the business as a member of the Board."
