European Islamic Investment Bank plc
("EIIB" or the "Bank")
Directorate Change
2 February 2011
EIIB announces the resignation, with immediate effect, of its Chairman, Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif due to the pressure of his responsibilities and commitments in the Middle East and internationally. Mr. Yousif was EIIB's founding Chairman and instrumental in establishing EIIB as the first Sharia'a compliant investment bank in the UK and has led the Bank safely through the turmoil of the recent global financial crisis. Until a successor is appointed, the Bank's Deputy Chairman, Mr. Shabir Randeree will take on the role of chairing the Bank.
Mr. Randeree said "Mr. Yousif was instrumental in mooting the idea of establishing an Islamic investment bank in the UK and it has been his commitment and dedication that has allowed EIIB to lay the foundations for a successful future. EIIB was very fortunate to have someone of Mr. Yousif's calibre to lead the Bank in its formative years and on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank him for his guidance and leadership of the Bank over the last 6 years".
