Director Shareholding

UMC has received notification that, on 2 July 2012, Mr. Jonathan R Reynolds, Finance Director of the Company, purchased 500,000 ordinary shares of 0.5 pence each in UMC ("Ordinary Shares") at a price of 11.13 pence per Ordinary Share. Following this acquisition, Mr. Reynolds is now interested in a total of 500,000 Ordinary Shares, representing 0.1 per cent. of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.
