DIRECTOR EXTERNAL APPOINTMENT

Pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.14 of the UK Listing Authority, Kazakhmys PLC notes the appointment of Philip Aiken, non-executive director and senior independent director of the Company, as deputy chairman of AVEVA Group plc ('AVEVA') with effect from 1 May 2012, and subject to the election by shareholders, he will be appointed as chairman of AVEVA after its annual general meeting on 12 July 2012.
