APPOINTMENT OF JAN DU PLESSIS
mARKS & SPENCER GROUP plc's BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Rio Tinto announces that Jan du Plessis, non-executive director of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited, will join the Board of Marks & Spencer Group PLC as a non-executive director, effective 1 November 2008.
