APPOINTMENT OF Dick evans
abitibibowater inc. - independent non-executive chairman
Rio Tinto announces that Dick Evans, executive director of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited, has been appointed an independent non-executive Chairman of AbitibiBowater Inc. effective 1 February 2009.
Mr Evans has been an independent non-executive director of AbitibiBowater Inc. since 2003.
