Mr Newman is 56 years of age and has a background as a professional engineerincluding 30 years experience in director and general manager roles in industrysectors including construction materials. Mr Newman's international business experience includes 7 years living in Southand East Asia, 2 years in the Middle East and 2 years in Central Asia, which isparticularly relevant for his role as a director of Steppe Cement Limited. In Asia, he has experience of managing, developing and growing highly profitablemulti-million pound businesses in construction materials and he has led teams intendering for major infrastructure projects across the region. He has led teamsand put together successful proposals for environmental projects in India andIndonesia, with projected values up to US$1bn. and has advised major companiesin the cross-border development of environmental solutions and systems. Mr Newman is a director of Cayenne Limited. He has not been a director of anyother company or a partner in any other business during the past five years. Mr Newman has not been involved with any unspent convictions in relation toindictable offences, bankruptcy, voluntary arrangements with creditors,receiverships, compulsory liquidations, creditors voluntary liquidations,administrations or other matters which require disclosure pursuant to paragraph(g) of schedule 2 of the AIM Rules. As advised on 26 April 2006 Steppe Cement Limited's Chairman, Azmi Wan Hamzah,will stand down from the board following the Company's Annual General Meeting tobe held later today and John Richardson (an existing non executive director)will assume the role of Chairman.
