Ultrasis PLC27 April 2006 Ultrasis Plc ("Ultrasis" or "the Company") Ultrasis have been invited to work alongside senior officials from theDepartment of Health and the Care Service Improvement Partnership (CSIP) toestablish a framework to deliver the commitment contained in the recent whitepaper "Our Health, Our Care, Our Say" to support Primary Care Trusts toimplement the Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CCBT) productsrecommended by NICE. The National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance"Technological Appraisal 97" recommends Ultrasis' product Beating the Blues foruse in the NHS to manage mild and moderate depression. It is expected that this guidance will be fully implemented across England byMarch 2007. Ultrasis CEO Nigel Brabbins, commented: We are delighted to be working with theDepartment of Health in determining how best to implement the recommendations ofthe white paper by March 2007, following the endorsement by NICE of Beating theBlues for the management of mild and moderate depression. We are certain thatBeating the Blues will have a major impact in the speed of access to CBT,reducing patients waiting times and have a positive effect on the mental healthof the nation. Beating the Blues is an eight session self-help treatment designed for patientswith no previous computer experience which uses interactive modules, animationsand voiceovers to engage the user. Originally developed by Dr Judy Proudfoot andcolleagues at The Institute of Psychiatry (IOP), it is already being extensivelyused - with excellent results - by a number of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) aroundthe country and by practitioners keen to provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT) in the treatment of depression. The working group includes CCBT Ltd whose product, Fearfighter was recommendedby NICE to manage panic and phobia.
