Delivery of the Second New-Build Bulk Carrier
Goldenport Holdings Inc. ("Goldenport" or "the Company"), (LSE: GPRT) the international shipping company that owns and operates a fleet of container and dry bulk vessels announces that on 12 October 2009 it took delivery of the new-build vessel "Alpine Trader" from the Jiangsu Eastern Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. yard of the Jiangsu Province in China. The vessel commenced on 15 October 2009 its agreed two year time charter at US$ 15,300 per day. The "Alpine Trader" is a Supramax geared bulk carrier with a capacity of 53,800 DWT.
Captain Paris Dragnis, Chief Executive Officer of Goldenport, commented: "We are pleased with the delivery of the "Alpine Trader", our second new-build Supramax out of the eight we have on order. Also, the "Alpine-Trader" is the second of two delivered in 2009 to our joint venture with Glencore International AG.
"This high spec double hull geared vessel with its extensive trading flexibility is a valuable addition to our fleet as it will enhance its versatility and operational flexibility and will expand our revenue and profit generation capacity."
