DDD launches 'TriDef SmartCam' for Windows

Los Angeles, California: DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD; OTCQX: DDDGY), the advanced imaging and 3D solutions company, has launched TriDef® SmartCam™, an innovative real time background replacement solution for popular Windows PC applications.

TriDef SmartCam is DDD's first software solution which is targeted at growth markets with a total addressable market forecast to exceed 1.8Bn units per year by 2018 in the 2D video conferencing and game video creation markets. It turns a conventional PC webcam into a powerful compositing tool that can replace the user's immediate environment with alternative background images and filter effects in real time.

Users of popular video conferencing applications such as Skype™ and Google's Hangouts™ communication platform can use the TriDef SmartCam solution to video conference while replacing their office or home surroundings with images of their choice, allowing them to transport themselves to far away locations or share their favourite photos during a video call.

Importantly, as a software application, TriDef SmartCam does not require any special hardware such as a 3D sensor or 'green screen' to perform the background replacement. This solution is both highly cost effective and easy to distribute as it has been created to ensure that it is already compatible with many popular Windows software applications, which already have hundreds of millions of users globally.

Based on DDD's extensive image analysis expertise and technologies, TriDef SmartCam has been developed in close collaboration with some of the world's leading video conference and game video software developers with millions of test sequences having been processed to refine the performance of the algorithms used in the solution.

TriDef SmartCam is now available as a free download for Windows PC devices from DDD's TriDef website. A seven day free trial can be downloaded, with a $14.99 purchase enabling the product at the end of the trial period.
