David Newlands appointed Chairman

Imperial Innovations Group plc (AIM: IVO, "Innovations", the "Group") has announced that David Newlands will be joining the Board of Innovations and become non-executive Chairman with effect from 1 August 2016, the start of the Group's new financial year.

Further to the announcement on 21 March 2016 that Dr Martin Knight would be stepping down as Non-executive Chairman and Director of the Group, the Nomination Committee, chaired by Dr Linda Wilding, carried out a rigorous assessment of available candidates and concluded that Mr Newlands met the criteria required for the role given his extensive Board experience, including large and mid-cap listed companies. Dr Martin Knight will step down as a Director of the Group on 31 July 2016.

Amongst his numerous board positions, David was formerly Chairman of PayPoint plc, Tomkins plc, Britax International, Kesa Electricals plc and HellermanTyton plc. His experience spans flotations, mergers and acquisitions, and growth companies.

Prior to these positions, David was Group Finance Director of The General Electric Company plc from 1989-1997 and Group Finance Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Plc from 1986-1989.

He trained as an accountant with Deloitte and Touche and became a partner in 1977 specialising in large international clients.

David Baxter Newlands, aged 69, is a director of Raeburn Place Development Limited and Walton Heath Golf Club Limited, and is a member of Prospect Investment Management (I) LLP.

His former directorships, during the five years preceding this announcement, are as follows:

· Prospect Investment Management Limited

· PayPoint plc

· Kesa Electricals plc (now Darty plc)

· OB10 Limited (now Tungsten Network Limited)

Mr Newlands holds no shares in Imperial Innovations Group plc.
