Scottish & Southern Energy PLC04 March 2005 4 March 2005 SCOTTISH AND SOUTHERN ENERGY PLC SIX MILLION ENERGY SUPPLY CUSTOMERS The energy supply business of Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") now hassix million customers for the first time. SSE, which markets electricity and gasas Southern Electric, SWALEC, Scottish Hydro Electric and Atlantic, has gainedalmost 1.5 million customers since the start of 2002. Ian Marchant, Chief Executive of SSE, said: "I believe that our combination of best-in-class customer service and the valueof our brands means we will continue to gain customers in the future. It alsoremains important, however, to maximise the value to be derived from theenlarged customer base which we have built up over the last three years. Withthat aim in mind, our new energy services unit has been set up to consolidateand market the services we provide to customers 'beyond the meter'."
