Scottish & Southern Energy PLC23 March 2006 Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") is hosting a visit for analysts todayand tomorrow (23 and 24 March) at its Ferrybridge Power Station in SouthYorkshire. The focus of the visit is to examine the role of coal in the UK energy sector.It will include separate presentations on: the current review of UK energypolicy; SSE's portfolio of electricity generation capacity; the global marketfor coal; coal in the UK electricity generation market; possible technologicaldevelopments in respect of coal and the operation and future development of theFerrybridge station and its sister station at Fiddler's Ferry. The presentations will be in line with SSE's strategy, as set out in its AnnualReport and Accounts 2005 and its subsequent Interim Results Statement. Theirpurpose is to enhance analysts' understanding of all of the issues related tocoal in the UK electricity generation market. The visit is taking place shortly before the end of this financial year and SSEis confident that its preliminary results, scheduled for publication on 31 May2006, will be broadly in line with current market expectations.
