Contract wins: Motive's content company signs three new production contracts worth £300,000

Motive is delighted to announce the signing of three new production contracts by its Dublin-based television content production company, Motive Television Ltd ("Motive Television"), together worth £300,000. All three projects will be produced by Motive's Jamie D'Alton and Anne McLoughlin.

Principal photography has begun on a one-hour documentary, 'The Notorious', directed by Patrick Timmons Ward, about Crumlin-based Ultimate Fighting Championship ("UFC") fighter Conor McGregor. Commissioned by RTÉ's Bill Malone and Eddie Doyle for RTÉ Two, it tells the story of how McGregor stands on the threshold of becoming one of the global superstars of the world's fastest-growing sport. Four years ago Conor McGregor was an apprentice plumber grinding out a living on the building sites of Dublin city; now the path is set for him to become UFC's ultimate fighter. With the mouth of Mohammed Ali and the fighting ability to match the talk, Conor is being groomed for mega stardom. In this one-hour documentary special we enter the high-stakes world of professional cage fighting as he prepares to make his UFC debut in America this summer.

Pre-production has begun on 'Doing Time', a two-part series for TV3 supported by the BAI Sound & Vision Fund.  Directed by Matt Leigh ('The Estate', 'The Nurse') the documentary series looks at the reality of having a family member in prison. Each individual or family story will be intercut to reveal family life under the strain caused by a relative's imprisonment. Moments of personal and economic hardship will be coupled with moments of joy and happiness as the series reveals that life on the outside can be a tough sentence as well.

Pre-production has also begun on a two-part golf documentary to be directed by IFTA award-winning director Garry Keane ('We Got Game', 'No Time To Die'). In 'The Long Walk' we enter the pressure cooker world of professional golf played by those on the margins of the professional game. Over the business end of the 2013 season the documentary follows a number of golf pros as they attempt to hold their own in the ultra-competitive and unforgiving world of professional golf. It will chart their ups and downs, their successes and disappointments, as they sacrifice everything in pursuit of their sporting dream. The project is being made with the support of Setanta Sports and the BAI Sound & Vision Fund.

The three new projects will build on Motive TV's most recent successes, including 'The Estate' (TV3), 'The Gambler' (Setanta Sports) and 'No Time To Die' (RTÉ One). Motive Television has won three Irish Film and Television Awards ("IFTA"'s) including the 2012 IFTA for Best Sports Programme for 'Man On A Mission' (Setanta Sports).
