Contract wins

Motive Television Ltd signs two new production contracts valued at £390,000 and an international distribution deal with Journeyman Films for 'The Gambler' documentary.

Motive Television PLC is delighted to announce the signing of two new production contracts by its 100%-owned Dublin-based television production subsidiary, Motive Television Ltd ("Motive Television").

Production has begun on "#broke", a new three-part series for TV3. Made with the support of the BAI Sound & Vision Fund "#broke" has a budget of £175,000 and is the follow-up series to the acclaimed 'The Estate,' which was broadcast earlier this year. In this new series the focus is on a city suburb that comes with a national reputation for antisocial behavior, crime and poverty. Over the course of the series we show what this socio-economic categorization means for its residents and ask the question: What does it actually mean to be considered broke and broken in 21st Century Ireland? "#broke" will be directed by Matt Leigh ("The Nurse") and Katie Lincoln ("From Here to Maternity"), edited by Emer O'Clery and cast by producer Yvonne Kinsella.

Production has also begun on "A Sporting Chance" (a co-production with Gyre and Gimble) and funded by the BAI Sound & Vision Fund. The 3 x 52' factual documentary series has a budget of £215,000 and sees a group of early school leavers brought together and given "A Sporting Chance" to turn their lives around through a sports and education programme. In partnership with Munster Rugby and Limerick Adult Education Services the group will be tutored, challenged and encouraged in the classroom in the mornings by literacy experts and coached in the afternoons by Munster rugby legends as the group prepare for a prestigious tag rugby event in the UK. The series will be directed by Gerry Nelson, edited by Piranha Bar's Jamie Fitzpatrick and series-produced by Aideen Kane.

Motive Television's Anne McLoughlin and Jamie D'Alton will produce both series.

Furthermore, following its broadcast on Setanta Sports and positive critical response, Motive has agreed an international distribution deal with Journeyman Films for 'The Gambler' documentary. Released last week on iTunes 'The Gambler' is a compelling fly-on-the-wall documentary that enters the bizarre high stakes world of professional gambling as we trail Ireland's hottest young card slinger John O'Shea over some of the most important months of his gambling career.

Motive Television is also proud to announce the launch of its new website, www.motive.ie Earlier this year, Motive Television was announced as one of the winners of the OPTIMISE 2013 Fund. The company was selected from over 350 entries by an independent panel of judges and awarded a grant for professional consultancy and support to help upgrade its online presence and grow the business using the Internet as a sales and marketing channel. The new website will now allow the user to have a more bespoke experience with Motive Television projects, past, present and future.

Motive Television is also currently in production on "Prison Families" (2 x 46') for TV3, "Notorious" (1 x 52') for RTÉ and "The Long Walk" (2 x 52') for Setanta Sports. It is hoped these new projects will build on Motive Television's most recent successes, "The Estate" (TV3), "We Got Game" (Setanta Sports) and "No Time To Die" (RTÉ One).
