Contract wins

Motive Television Limited signs two new production contracts valued at approximately £300,000 and puts the finishing touches to '#Darndale - The Edge of Town' for TV3 (3x50').

Motive Television PLC is delighted to announce the signing of two new production contracts by its 100%-owned Dublin-based television production subsidiary, Motive Television Limited ("Motive Television"). The revenue associated with the contracts amounts to £307,200 in aggregate and is expected to be received by Motive Television during the current financial year.

Following Motive Television's hit 'Reality Bites: The Notorious', Conor McGregor returns to the small screen for 'The Notorious - The Series'. Commissioned by Bill Malone and Eddie Doyle for RTÉ Two this six part series spends six months with Conor McGregor, his family and entourage as Ireland's most talked about sports person continues his quest for MMA and world domination. Principal photography has begun on this access-led series which will be directed by Patrick Timmons Ward, filmed by Gavin Fitzgerald and edited by Mick Mahon. Jamie D'Alton & Anne McLoughlin will co-produce the series.

Principal Photography has also begun on a second series of 'Prison Families'. The original BAI Sound & Vision series was broadcast on TV3 in April to wide spread acclaim with The Irish Times describing the series as "excellent, gritty and tough-to-watch… a rare, superbly made, very human insight into an aspect of crime and punishment that's easy to forget". Expanding on the first series this new three part series will further examine the reality of having a family member in prison. Commissioned by Jeff Ford and Owen McCardle, the series will be filmed and directed by Matt Leigh, produced by Yvonne Kinsella, executive produced by Jamie D'Alton. Anne McLoughlin will be series producer.

Motive Television is also putting the finishing touches to a new hard-hitting series '#Darndale - The Edge of Town' for TV3. The series, which starts on the 22nd of September, is the follow up to the IFTA nominated series 'The Estate'. Series director Matt Leigh and Katie Lincoln spent a year in Darndale in North Dublin, and revealed that despite the area's reputation as an unemployment, crime and drug blackspot, it is home to a vibrant and close-knit community. Filmed over 12 months this ambitious observational series goes behind closed doors as residents live out their everyday lives, coping with the gritty reality of life's twists and turns, the moments of triumph and despair. Edited by Emer O'Clery at Big Red Engine and Co-produced by Jamie D'Alton and Anne McLoughlin for Motive Television, the series was cast by Yvonne Kinsella.

It is hoped that the three projects will build on Motive Television's most recent successes. Recent Motive Television documentaries include 'The Estate' (TV3), 'We Got Game' (Setanta Sports) and 'No Time To Die' (RTÉ One).

It has been a busy time for Motive Television. The company was nominated for three IFTA awards at this year's event; its recent poker documentary 'The Gambler' was launched on iTunes after signing an international distribution deal; and the company website has been upgraded (please see www.motive.ie). Next month Motive Television's recent co-production with Gyre & Gimble will be broadcast on Setanta Sports. 'A Sporting Chance' is a three-part education & literacy set in Limerick, which uses sport to transform the lives of a group of early school-leavers. Directed by Gerry Nelson and presented by Liam Toland and Rosie Foley the series was made with the support of the BAI Sound & Vision Fund.
