Atkins (WS) PLC01 February 2006 NEWS RELEASE 1 February 2006 Atkins awarded five-year contract with GCHQ Atkins has been awarded a five-year contract with Government CommunicationsHeadquarters (GCHQ) to provide project and programme management supportservices. The Programme and Project Support Office (PPSO) contract, which isextendable to seven years, is worth potentially £10 million per year. Atkins has for the past six years been providing project support and consultancyto GCHQ across its business services and development projects. GCHQ's programmes of work have to deliver new capabilities and new servicesunder challenging conditions and timescales. They already have a high reputationwithin the public sector for best practice programme and project management.Their strategy in letting this new contract has been to select a supplier thatcan be an effective strategic partner - delivering added value throughinnovation and application of industry best practice to optimise programmeoutcomes. The deal emphasises Atkins' strength in the security and defence sectors. Otherkey contracts include the Company's role as Systems House for the Ministry ofDefence's Future Rapid Effect System (FRES) programme to build the nextgeneration of medium-weight armoured vehicles for the Army.
