Atkins (WS) PLC25 April 2006 Atkins named preferred bidder for Cambridgeshire County Council's highway services contract WS Atkins plc (Atkins) was today named preferred bidder by Cambridgeshire CountyCouncil for a major highway services contract. The 10-year contract (subject toreview in years five and seven) is potentially worth £25 million per annum toAtkins. Atkins was selected following a detailed procurement process involvingfour bidders. The contract will comprise the integration of professional highway designservices with the operation and maintenance of Cambridgeshire's road network,fitting into Atkins' strategy to undertake multidisciplinary, high valueprojects. Atkins already operates three of the four existing integrated local authoritytransport contracts in the UK, in Northamptonshire, Somerset and most recently,Gloucestershire. Atkins has provided design-related highways and bridgesservices to Cambridgeshire since 1995.
