Meggitt PLC16 March 2006 For immediate release 16 March 2006 Meggitt PLC Meggitt Safety Systems wins A400M contract Meggitt PLC ('Meggitt'), the international aerospace, defence and electronicsgroup today announces that Meggitt Safety Systems has been awarded a contractfrom EADS CASA, Spain - an industrial partner of prime contractor AirbusMilitary - to design, develop, manufacture and support actuators for the enginenacelle air doors on the A400M military transport aircraft. The specialist actuators regulate the air flow through the TP400 engine coolerand through the Inertial Particle Separator duct. The A400M programme has now received 192 firm aircraft orders from Belgium,France, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom as well as SouthAfrica and Malaysia and is expected to yield total orders of around 400 aircraftworldwide. The A400M's first flight is due in early 2008, after which productionis estimated at 30 years and be in service for 50 years. Meggitt Safety Systems has already won a contract from EADS CASA and AirbusGermany for the Fire Detection System on A400M.
