Ultra awarded extension to Sonobuoy Capability

contract with MoD

Ultra Electronics announces that its Sonar Systems business, based in Greenford, Middlesex, has been awarded a £9.5m extension to contract for the supply of sonobuoys for the Royal Navy's Merlin Maritime Patrol Helicopter which will be executed throughout 2017.

This contract between Ultra and the MoD for sonobuoy engineering, manufacture, logistics and support, ensures the Royal Navy maintains a persistent Anti-Submarine Warfare surveillance capability against hostile submarines. It also allows Ultra to support future technology capability insertion and international collaboration.

Rakesh Sharma, Chief Executive of Ultra commented:

"I am very pleased that Ultra has been awarded an extension to the Sonobuoy Capability contract. This continues to be a significant opportunity for Ultra, demonstrating the Group's ability to supply and support cutting edge, affordable and value for money solutions to the Royal Navy. We look forward to continuing to work with the DE&S team."

Paddy Clayton, DE&S Merlin PT Deputy Leader said:

"The extension of the Sonobuoy Production and Support Contract with Ultra Electronics secures a vital capability for the Royal Navy. We look forward to continuing to work with the Ultra team."
