ArmorGroup International plc13 July 2006 Awarded $7 million mine action contract in Sudan ArmorGroup International plc, the leading international provider of protectivesecurity services, specialist training and of weapons reduction and mineclearance services, today announces that it has been awarded a $7 millioncontract by the United Nations Office for Project Services ("UNOPS") to carryout a land mine survey and clearance programme in support of the UN's mission inSouthern Sudan. The initial contract is for one year and is due to start in early July with aphased deployment of manpower up to full strength by 1 September. ArmorGroup'steams will be deployed in support of the United Nations' Southern Regional MineAction Office in Juba, with operations being conducted in the areas around Juba,Wau and Malakal. ArmorGroup expects to deploy a substantial team which willinclude around 200 Sudanese deminers, surveyors and support staff. ArmorGroup has offered mine action and weapons reduction services togovernmental, commercial and humanitarian organisations since 1994 and Sudanwill be the 18th country in which its mine action teams have operated. Over therecent years the Group's mine action teams have worked closely with UNOPS, amajor provider of project management and implementation services to the UnitedNations System and developing countries, in the Lebanon, Cyprus, Ethiopia,Kosovo and Croatia.
